Сeremony of awarding the President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky

Bishop Luka (Zgoba) of Philadelphia attended the ceremony of awarding the President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky with the Medal of Freedom in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania - 2022 Liberty Medal.

The Medal of Freedom was established in 1988 in honor of the 200th anniversary of the US Constitution. It is awarded on behalf of the US National Constitution Center to individuals who have made a significant contribution to the struggle for human freedom around the world. The list of awardees includes, in particular, Nelson Mandela, Sandra Day O'Connor, Kofi Annan, Malala Yousafzai and Colin Powell, and from now on the President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyi.

Delaware Senator Chris Coons, who came to Kyiv specially for this event, personally presented the medal to President Volodymyr Zelenskyi.

By chance, Bishop Luka had a conversation with the Mayor of Philadelphia, Jim Kenny, who was also present at the ceremony. Bishop Luka thanked Jim Kenny for helping Ukrainian refugees who have been in the city since the beginning of the full-scale Russian invasion of Ukraine.
