TO HIS EXCELLENCY, THE PRESIDENT OF THE UNITED STATES OF AMERICA JOSEPH BIDEN
Dear Mr. President,
On the occasion of the inauguration, let me sincerely congratulate you on your election and assumption of the office of the President of the United States of America.
Many believers in the Ukrainian Orthodox Church of the Kyiv Patriarchate are United States citizens.
With great warmth I recollect our repeated meetings in Washington when you were the Vice President of the United States.
Today, with my blessing, parishes of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church of the Kyiv Patriarchate in the United States hold prayers to the Lord to grant you success as the newly-elected President.
Ukrainians greatly appreciate the help of the United States of America in defending our national sovereignty and territorial integrity.
It is common knowledge that the United States has great respect for human rights and has always defended them around the world. I hope that during the term of your office, strategic cooperation between our countries will continue and the rights of believers of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church of the Kyiv Patriarchate for the freedom of conscience will be protected. It is also my fervent prayer that our Church will renew its legal registration in Ukraine so that it will be able to act freely again and fulfill its mission of salvation.
I wish you good health, strength, inspiration in serving the American people and defending the ideals of freedom, peace, and democracy.
I call God’s blessing upon you.
PHILARET PATRIARCH OF KYIV AND ALL RUS-UKRAINE
